A Memorable Christmas Tree

What would've been a pretty uneventful little trip to the Home Depot to get our Christmas tree, turned into one that we won't ever forget! We were outside looking at the trees...and the ground was dusted with white snow...so pretty! As Cam and I were discussing the trunk of our tree, the boys were playing behind us in a big open area....sliding around in their boots. Well, one second they were having so much fun and the next, Gregory was laid out flat on the ground! He was screaming...poor guy hit directly on his mouth and he broke his (permanent) front tooth! :( It was not pretty...blood, swollen/lip, broken tooth and, of course tears. It was awful! And what to do? It was Saturday afternoon....where to go? I called the ER to see if they could tell me where we would need to go for an emergency dental procedure...they had no idea...maybe Tri Cities? Well, I couldn't find the number on my phone for Kadlec hospital, so we decided to go home and call. On the way home (after we bought our tree....Greg was doing a little better) I decided to just call our dentist to see where we could go. What a blessing! I talked to his wife...and she said that he would meet us down at the office in 30 min. I am telling you...it was Dr. Jones to the rescue!! He was so great! He left his house to meet us at 5:30, and his whole office staff was scheduled to show up at his house at 6 for their Christmas party! We were so thankful and relieved! To make this long story a bit shorter, I won't give all of the details of the procedure, but just want to say that Gregory was such a trooper! The worst part, for sure, was the shot to numb him up...poor baby had the hugest pools of tears in his eyes...so hard for a Mama to watch! Now we are praying that his tooth won't die or get an infection. However, he already seems to be doing SO well! There is still bruising, but the swelling is gone and he hasn't complained about being in any pain!

Here he is yesterday when his lip was still a little swollen. (I didn't get a pic before the tooth was fixed)

and an up-close pic of his tooth. If you look close, you can see the line where his tooth broke off. Top, right front tooth...the one that no longer has the ridges at the bottom. Lovely Christmas tree in the background, right? ;) Haha...for sure...not one that will be forgotten!

lovin' the leaves

Today when we were waiting for Grant to come home on the bus, Claire asked me to rake the leaves into a pile so she could jump into them. She mentioned that she got the idea from Miss Tammy :) So, that's what we did...so much fun! She and Grant were jumping and "raking" for an hour before I decided that we should go in for lunch. I'm sure they would've stayed out there a lot longer, if I let them! I love these sunny, crisp Fall days.

Pumpkin Patch with the Kindergarten class

We took a very cold trip to the pumpkin patch on Tuesday....I was not complaining though, since we didn't have rain!! We had a great time....walking through the corn maze, eating popcorn, riding on a tractor and finally.....picking out a pumpkin....that they could carry all by themselves ;) Fun times!

There were butterflies...

...in my stomach this morning. I didn't think I'd feel nervous watching Claire go off to preschool at all! But, I was! She already knows her wonderful teachers and has some really good friends in her class so she wasn't worried at all....she has been looking forward to it for quite a while!!

Here she is....so ready!
Claire Bear has been cracking us up lately! Yesterday we spent the day up in the Tri Cities and we were going to stop at DQ for ice cream cones....I asked the kids if they wanted chocolate, vanilla or swirl cones. Claire says..."YUCK!! I DON'T WANT SQUIRREL....EW!! STINKY!!" :D

Goodbye Summer....

....hello Fall!

Here's what we'll be doing for the next couple of months: Soccer, soccer and more soccer.

Gregory's team is the DQ small fries

and Grant's is called the Little Kickers.

Okay....here is a random picture for you....see the truck with the dog tag in the middle? We found it in a geo cache and now we are going to take it and place it in another container somewhere. We love geo caching!!

Silly kids at the pool.

Grant
Greg

and a sweet one of all three :)

The kids did great with their lessons this year! I was very pleased with their progress....they started out this Summer in levels pre, 1 and 1.5 and next year when I sign them up, they will be going into levels 1, 2 and 3.
Hopefully I will keep up with blogging a bit better now that our normal routine will be starting up! No promises, though ;)

Triathalon

Greg participated in a kids triathalon this morning and it was a GREAT experience!! I can't get over how independant he is becoming....I love to see his determination, but of course it makes me a little teary to realize that he is not going to be a little boy for much longer! Here are some pictures that Cam snapped all along the way:

waiting

ready

#51!

Greg's gun show ;)

and the race is on! It starts with a 50 meter swim across the pool.

by the end of the swim, he appears to be sinking a little....that is by far the longest distance he has ever swum.

next up: biking!

and last running to the finish line!

I am so proud of this boy! He didn't want to take any short cuts. He was so determined to do the whole thing....and he DID!! Way to go Greg!
